For more than forty years, Kent Hult has been one of Sweden's leading underwater photographers. Unlike many of his contemporaries who focused primarily on marine life, Hult built a unique career documenting the human side of underwater activity — capturing commercial divers, military operations, marine archaeologists, scientific expeditions, shipwreck explorations, underwater sports, environmental research, and the evolution of diving technology. Alongside his professional career, he developed a passion for underwater photography that would eventually become one of Sweden's most important visual records of underwater operations and exploration. His archive spans an extraordinary period in diving history — from the era of manual film cameras and pioneering underwater housings to the emergence of modern digital imaging. Once processed, the material will support historical research, educational initiatives, exhibitions, and future documentary productions. Kent Hult's donation further strengthens Ocean Archive's growing collection of historically significant underwater photography and film, reinforcing its ambition to become one of Europe's leading repositories for marine visual heritage.
